What is this tap fitting called?

I need to replace my kitchen tap - ideally with something better quality than the old one (which failed within a few months - the plumber says its cartridge has broken).
I don't know what the fitting is called, which makes it very difficult to search for a replacement. It attaches to the sink with a sort of black horseshoe thing.

Can anybody tell me what I need to search for to get one of those? (Or, even better, recommend a single lever mixer tap that attaches in that way?)
