Listing Views

I had some Doctor Marten boots listed on eBay a week or two ago which had about 45 views and 3 watchers - I listed a few days prior to that.
The 80% off FVF offer showed up so I ended the listing and put it back on again reducing the price by about £10. I've had them listed for a week and have only had 3 views.
Is it just a case of buyers not being interested in them anymore or does one get penalised for relisting an item? I can understand the buyers watching the boots might have thought "oh, they've cancelled the listing, let's not bother with them anymore". I know the sun's out and people are probably not bothering with eBay much but just wondered if anyone else had any tips or advice.

I suppose that you could have used the "send offer" function to reduce the price to those watching the boots. Or tried relisting with a higher price; sounds odd, I know but I've had some success with that (but also had success by lowering a price). Sometimes it takes months for an item to sell, sometimes it takes hours. eBay is a fickle place 🙂
Just out of curiosity, why did you end the listing once your FVF offer had ended?2 -

Visits now only show for the first 30 days then renew . eBay for me and many people I talk to has been very small this week, perhaps it is the weather and things might pick up later.
@olgadapolga I read that as meaning they had them listed saw the FVF offer so ended them and relisted them to take advantage of the offer.

I relisted when the FVF offer came out. I thought perhaps eBay were penalising me for it. I did send out some offers when the watchers were looking but no one responded.
I'm just trying to get rid of all of the bits and pieces I have lurking around.
Thanks for your help and suggestions both.0 -
I think this new system is shoeing up how many of the views were not genuine.
What I sell is usually quite specialized yet I could put something on and within 5 minutes I had a number of views.
Now I am getting many fewer but I only need the one you genuinely wants the item.If you go down to the woods today you better not go alone.1 -
My Views are now going backwards! How does that work?
I have 3 out of 8 listed that have lost a couple of views since yesterday. All 8 were listed the same day so nothing to do with the 30 day viewing figures thing.1 -
Looks like you are all right and it's a load of codswallop. I relisted everything when the new FVF offer came on. I have one item with 0 views and 4 watchers. Hmmmm!0

I listed a new listing today which has had no views but has got one watcher.edit. I thought I'd check if you can watch an item without viewing it and you can by clicking the heart in the bottom right of items on the search results page. Presumably buyers watch items before viewing them.Is it possible the op's DMs are not being viewed because buyers are recognizing them from previous searches? Do DMs have avid followers who constantly check listings so know when a pair has previously been listed?1

What counts is a sale and you can get that with the first person looking at the item.
I bought a Hotwheels car set, just went on line, I like the price and the buyer so I bought within a minute of lisiting.
You've possibly priced them too high and or no postage as that limits the market as I've found out a few times but I don't post stuff.1 -
I've sold things within minutes, its really annoying coming back from making a drink and wondering why the listings vanished, thinking "what now?", then you realise its sold.

I am guessing it is the same with marketplace with these "is your item the same as" time wasters because even after getting this message, my view is still zero. so how is he messaging me but the view has not gone up??0
