Much better for the environment to use a crevice tool to remove the weeds. We should be trying to cut out chemical use in our gardensBarnsley, South Yorkshire

I hope not! Ants that is. I've just made a cocrete slab to go under the pavers our sitting-out bench will go on. It was going to be on 3 big pavers bedded in sand till I discovered ant nests under each one. Then I recalled a thread here where someone complained about being bitten by ants every time they sat outside on the patio.....Hence all the work!Bendy_House said:Weeds and ants should be pretty easy to deal with, I think?

I meant 'deal with' as in eradicate, not cope with :-)

But you still haven't said how one eradicates them. They just come back. Not the same lot obviously!Bendy_House said:Woolsery said:

Aren't there decent killers available? Powders and gels?0 -
I didn't think black ants bit, only red ones? I don't mind ants, wouldn't worry me if I had nests.£216 saved 24 October 20140

Or grow plants of your choosing in the gaps so there is less room for weeds.

I have eradicated them, not seen any for a few years on my front drive. Powder used regularly will eventually get rid of them. Weed burner does a good job if you can find the actual nest hole.Bendy_House said:
