Cost of living payments

I keep seeing a lot about the gov "helping" those on universal credit. Is it going to be like the covid extra per week where those on old style benefits miss out again or will we actually be noticed as well ?

It's going to be direct payment(s) for (edit: almost) all on means-tested benefits
£650 one-off Cost of Living Payment for those on means tested benefits:
- More than 8 million households on means tested benefits will receive a payment of £650 this year, made in two instalments. This includes all households receiving the following benefits:
- Universal Credit
- Income-based Jobseekers Allowance
- Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
- Income Support
- Working Tax Credit
- Child Tax Credit
- Pension Credit
- DWP will make the payment in two lump sums – the first from July, the second in the autumn. Payments from HMRC for those on tax credits only will follow shortly after each to avoid duplicate payments.

"In March 2020, as part of a package of measures in response to the coronavirus pandemic the Government announced that they would increase the basic element of Working Tax Credit (WTC) for the 2020-21 tax year by an additional £20 a week. The basic element of WTC was originally intended to be £1,995 in 2020-21 but was increased to £3,040.
A similar £20 per week temporary increase was made to universal credit (UC). The increase to WTC (and UC) was scheduled to end on 5 April 2021".0 -

Not all legacy benefits and not all means tested benefits. If you only get Housing Benefit then you don't qualify.0

No one said it was all legacy benefits.
