Is my Lec Fridge Freezer faulty?

The fridge is cold and the freezer is frozen, however....
the compressor seems to run 24/7, it never goes off.
With electric at sky high prices, the 2p per hour it costs to run soon adds up to a fortune.
The seal on the door seems OK.
The fridge was set to 5c, but I've turned it down to 2c.
Still the compressor won't go off.
I removed a thick bloc of ice from the back of the fridge the other day which is not normal.
Anyone got any ideas on what could be going on?
Thanks

The most likely issue is that whatever device senses or controls the temperature in the Fridge is not working correctly & "thinks" the fridge temperature is too high, hence keeping the compressor running in order to cool the fridge
In some fridges the temperature sensor is part of the temperature adjuster (aka Thermostat) typically fitted to the roof of the fridge compartment, in other fridges the temperature sensor is not in the temperature adjuster it's on the outside of the back of the fridge compartment under the foam insulation.

If it's really the sensor, the temperatures would become much lower than expected - they are worth measuring. If the temperatures are normal and the compressor works non-stop, then something wrong is with the compressor, possibly the the refrigerant/coolant leaked.tomp2494 said:

Still the compressor won't go off.The lower the set temperature, the longer the compressor has to work to reach it. To stop it you have to turn the temperature up, not down.0 -
Different fridge freezers work in different ways. If it's a basic one that sets the temperature in the fridge and assumes that the freezer will be cold enough then the lump of ice could be a clue. It suggests a partial blockage in the system, probably time for a new fridge.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0

Sure you haven't left the door open? Switch off for 24 hrs to defrost, try again.0
