Vanguard Transfer Question

Options
I always think of these things on the weekend when places are closed

Does anyone know if Vanguard can accept partial transfers that include cash please?

I have a HL ISA that holds some non-Vanguard products (I want to leave these with HL) some Vanguard funds and some cash and I'm considering transferring the Vanguard funds and cash to Vanguards own platform where I also have an ISA.

If not is a Vanguard money market fund such as "Sterling Short-Term Money Market Fund - GBP Inc" the "safest" way to convert the cash that's sat in the HL ISA to something cash like that Vanguard can transfer?

Thanks

Many transfers of this kind are in cash, so transferring cash in itself is not an issue at all.

Normally people transfer 'in specie' or in cash , not sure if you can do both at the same time but I would think so. Most invested accounts will have a little bit in the cash account anyway.

I think  Vanguard accept partial transfers .

Thanks, I've asked them via Secure Message.

If I try to go through the transfer process using the form in the portal and select partial transfer it suggests pretty clearly that only Vanguard investments will be transferred and not cash.

Seems slightly odd as I wouldn't have thought wanting to do a partial transfer of cash plus funds is unusual so let's see what they say.

I think Vanguard treat a partial transfer as being all Vanguard investments and nothing else, such that cash and other investments are left alone. They don't offer partial cash transfers from cash ISAs from what I recall, so probably wouldn't for S&S ISAs either. If they confirm this, then using the money market fund as suggested would be the easiest way to get the desired amount of cash sent over. Although I'm a little confused as to why you couldn't just invest in the desired Vanguard fund while at HL, is there something HL doesn't offer that can be held directly with Vanguard?

Confirmation from Vanguard that they do not support cash in partial transfers.
