Paid SSE twice for top up of prepayment meter

SSE were chasing me for non-payment of electricity account for a prepayment meter between November 20 to July 21 for 249.63. I have now called them 3 times to sort this out and even though raised a complaint ended up speaking with the same people over and over again, farcical.  They told me the top ups did not register at their end.  I can only assume the prepayment key was faulty.  I was happily topping up during this time but once I had topped up the meter destroyed the receipt.  I even provided them with photographic evidence that the meter was in credit (photo was taken by the managing estate agent), but apparently without the receipt I'm goosed.  Ended up having to settle today and pay twice because I work in financial services can't allow this to appear on my credit file.  Absolute joke.  Be wary of the old prepayment meters and check they are being credited to your account.
