British Gas have tried to increase the standing charges on my 2 year Green Future Energy fixed price contract, which ends in May 2023.
The original charges were Gas 28.617p Electric 36.225p. They increased them in November to Gas 33.022 Electric 40.252p, a 15.4% increase for Gas,11.1% for Electric
This April they tried to increase the charges again.

Fixed energy tariff

  • You pay the same price for your unit rates and standing charge for the length of the plan
  • Your contract length is fixed – so it has a set end-date
  • You generally pay an early exit fee if you leave your plan before the contract end date.
I have contacted British Gas and they are correcting my latest bill and adjusting my standing charges to the contracted rates.

Has anybody else had this problem? If so don't contact British Gas by phone, it takes hours talking to and waiting for answers from multiple staff who do not understand the problem. The online chat service took minutes to get it fixed.
