I am not a financial wizard so perhaps someone on here could give us some advice,We are both pensioners with no mortgage could someone on here give us some idea what we could receive following yesterday's announcement by the chancellor and also how it is paid and when are we  likely  to receive it.

Think the final details are yet to be announced but you should get the £400 for definite, the £300 if you already get winter fuel allowance, and the £650 if you get pension credit.

just to clarify - the £300 is on top of the existing winter fuel allowance so you will get £500 winter fuel allowance instead of the usual £200

The £400 everyone gets will be as a credit on your fuel bill ie not into your bank account

The £650 will be paid into your bank account if you qualify.

The winter fuel allowance of £200 becomes £500 paid into your bank as normal...advised for fuel but will help with increased food bills.
The £400 will be paid directly to the energy account

The £300 payment for pensioners is for Cost of Living support.

The £400 credit on energy bills for everyone with a domestic electricity meter is for energy.

The usual Winter Fuel Payment (£200 in your case) is for energy.

Although my wife and I receive the £100 each Winter Fuel Allowance, it just goes into general funds here, out of which the monthly DD to our energy supplier is paid. The same will happen with the £300 Cost of Living payment. The £400 credit to the electricity account really is dedicated to offsetting energy costs, but as we pay a regular level monthly amount, all it will do is be a factor in the calculation when the monthly payment is reviewed.

Same here, we are pensioners who receive the WFP.
I have worked out we should get £1050 in payment of some sort as a minimum.

I know it's the energy thread but I've included a £150 council tax rebate too.
In effect your WFP will increase to £500 (£300 then £200)
£400 in energy bills help (to be paid over 6 monthly payments) against your monthly bills.

You need to be on a means tested benefit of some sort.

If you are talking you are both pensioners and just receive the state pension, nothing else, no other benefits, pension credit etc then as I read it and worked out as my post above....

You could already be getting the WFP (winter fuel payment) or £200 per household. That will now be an additional £300 per household (not each) I understand this additional payment will be paid earlier than the usual £200 which is normally around the end of the year. As yet that is to be announced. It will be paid direct into bank accounts as your pension is.

The other £150 council tax rebate, well that's a contentious one for me as I don't pay my council by DD. If you do pay by DD you are supposed to be paid the £150 into the account you pay your bills from. I've got to wait for a form to complete to claim my £150, as said no DD set up. See your individual council website for further info, it should show how and when you get paid, by all accounts by early June.

And finally the £400 energy payment, according to news it starts to be paid in October (I believe)  and is credited to the energy account, split into 6 monthly payments, not as a lump sum.

So if you are have the same circumstances as me, 2 pensioners living at the same address who pay at least an electricity bill and receive the WFP you can get at least £1050 from the chancellor's promise.
