I'd love to hear your MoneySaving (and time/effort saving) festival hacks.

To start things off:

• Consider doing a tent share with a friend. Rather than both bring your own tent, consider bringing just one between you to share. That frees up the other person to bring other resources.
• Bring a sizeable bottle so you can refill water at the taps/bars and won't be tempted to buy bottled water.
• When buying sunscreen ahead of time, remember to look out for UVA and SPF - it doesn't need to be expensive or from a famous brand to be effective.
• If you happen to have an old brick-style mobile handset, consider bringing that instead of your smartphone. It will hold battery much longer, plus it won't be as much of a disaster if it gets lost or pinched.

I'm not a festival fan, but I have two close friends who love it, they missed out on the draw for Glastonbury this year, but have both got (as yet unspecified) jobs there, they do a day's work and enjoy the 'delights' of Glasto the rest of the time. Not my idea of fun, but with all the staff shortages in hospitality it might be an opportunity for some folk to gain free entry. Not sure if they get paid too - a few years ago my niece and her fiancé volunteered with a charity (Oxfam?) and got free entry through that.

A great point, and I think such a cool thing to do for anyone who's able to.

My friend does the same, but via Samaritans. Another volunteers with Psycare and is going between several smaller festivals this year that way.

If you're at Glastonbury and you're running low on food/money, you can visit the Hare Krishna test where they'll feed you. They do ask for donations, which can be any amount.

I took a reusable spork and bowl with me to Glastonbury, along with some cereal. I then bought a pint of milk everyday from the milk truck which I shared with friends. Overall, this saved me a LOT on breakfast items over the course of the week, like bacon and egg rolls!

I've attended a few music festivals in Germany and found them far cheaper than their UK counterparts -  food and drink was literally half the price of the UK which more than covered the extra costs of getting there and back. Individual festivals and countries will obviously vary, but it's worth a Google if you spot an ideal line-up somewhere further afield. 

For women - consider a shewee or similar device. Antibac wipes do a good enough job at cleaning them, if soap and hot water isn't easy to come by.

I only buy suncream/lotion with 5 stars for UVA.
Some more expensive brands don't have this maximum protection.
Avon seem to say "UVA high PA ***".
Aldi do great suncream with 5 * UVA.

Take a hat if it's going to be sunny.
