Tracking down a property?

Confused person with no contact with relatives. They advise they have a second property which they would sell to pay for care but are not able to give details.
Is there any way to track ownership with the land registry (or anywhere else) from the person's name rather than via address? Or any other suggestions?
Person may well not have a second property at all, but if they do it would give them options so it is important to try to find out.

All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

Can we narrow it down to a country? If England & Wales, I don't think the Land Registry permits the general public to search by (individuals') names, but the authorities can do so. Not sure how much justification they need to carry out such a search.
Do they really have no records at all (banking, council tax, solicitors, mortgage etc) which might give a clue?1 -
It will be England. County potentially one of two. Records still need to be properly checked so yes that would be the ideal way but given the way the person has been living that is less easy than it may sound. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Do they have any memory of buying it themselves or was it inherited? Any idea which county?
If it was inherited, you may be able to track back through the Electoral records.1 -
Is the property a house? Presumably, at some point in the past they were less confused and registered the second property for council tax.
So there might be a direct debit set up on their bank account, from which you can trace details. And/or annual council tax bills sent to their current address.
If council tax bills were being sent to the second property address and not being paid, the council would have instructed tracing agents and debt collectors who probably would probably have tracked down the confused person.
I guess it's possible that somehow the house has occupants/tenants who pay the council tax - but presumably don't pay any rent. Has the confused person given any clue about whether the property was a second home, or a BTL, or something else?

If it was inherited, you may be able to track back through the Electoral records.Probate Office which makes wills publicly available.

Does relative know what property is being used for? Any evidence of rental income? Regular payments in or out of bank account which give any clues?0
