EoN Next smart meter install
Just logged in this morning to check in with my account and it says smart meter install for your area.
I am on an Smets1 so having booked it and them knowing my readings already update I presume this means I will get a Smets2 or a happy engineer turns up and doesn't have a job to do 🤣

If the supplier replaces your SMETS1 meter it may be fined. There is a process in place to update SMETS1 meters to allow them to connect to the DCC network. What meter model do you have?Mstty said:Just logged in this morning to check in with my account and it says smart meter install for your area.

It all works fine and connected and I use Bright.[Deleted User] said:

I can only presume this is due to a discussion I had with them last week about potentially getting an EV and maybe Smets2 is needed for that when they open up their EV tariffs again.0 -
SMETS2 isn’t needed for any EV tariff. As far as the consumer is concerned, a SMETS2 meter offers no advantages over a DCC-enrolled and adopted SMETS1 meter.Mstty said:

Oh well will let the engineer turn up then and at the very least he can have a free hour or two if nothing is required.0

I got swapped on Eon-Next last year when Symbio went bust. My old SMETS 1 meter started working again and although I'm not sure that it's reporting to Eon it certainly works with the Bright app, so there's really no reason that Eon couldn't use the data as well.
Even the tariff and standing charge indicated on the IHD is correct (including the price uplift in April), something that it never did properly even when it was first installed in 2017 by SSE.
AFAIK Dolor is correct, they shouldn't be replacing SMETS 1 meter with SMETS 2 unless there's a very good reasson.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -

That may be it they couldn't set my standing charge correctly but could adjust the fixed rate.matelodave said:I got swapped on Eon-Next last year when Symbio went bust. I will leave them to it anyway as I have said it's already reporting in Bright correctly.
Do I really care if they get fined for supplying me an update Smets2? Not really0
