Car purchase

Hi,
I bought a second hand car from a dealer for 2k and paid by bank transfer. Second day of owning it the engine management light came on and I took it to a local garage who checked it over and said it has multiple engine faults some of which had been there for a while. I rang the dealer and explained very politely that I wanted a refund based on the fault and I provided him the report. He refused a refund and said he would repair it but I do want to go near I now. I read the consumer rights act and i have now paid to take it to court but I just wanted to check that this is not going to drag on for months as I have a car sat on the drive that I cannot use.
Appreciate any advice ,
Rob

Court takes many months if you let it get to a hearing - it depends on how far the dealer lets it drag on for. From starting the claim to hearing my last case was 8 months - it’s not a quick process.0

First step is to reject it.0

Did you win the case? I am worried that it will drag on and then I might not even win. Also should I give him the car back0 -
How do I reject it? Is this a formal process0

It's not a formal process. But you have to hand the car back and tell them that you are rejecting it. Putting it in writing would help. But this leaves you with no money and no car.How long has this dealership been in business? The actual company, not the site where they are selling. All too often, by the time you win the court case, the company is gone, and has been replaced by a new one with a slightly different name.If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0 -
You said your read the CRA, then you should know that you have a 30 day window in which to reject the car for a full refund, you do not have to accept any refund at this stage. The onus is on you to prove that any faults were present when you bought the vehicle and it sounds like you have done just that. If you are going to reject the car then you must stop using it.0

I have evidence from another garage that the car has multiple faults and I have provided the report to the dealer I purchased the car from. He has been in business for 1 month so now I am worried but he had multiple good reviews.
I will return the car to him and ask for proof of receipt.0
