Gas or Electric Fire

Welcome to the forum.Certainly not an electric fire at four times the running cost. And preferably not a gas fire if you have GCH because they're less efficient than a boiler. However, you'd need to turn the TRVs on the other radiators down or off if you're heating only one room.1

On what grounds are you making the decision?npenny said:I need to replace my gas fire and in the current climate am wondering whether to buy another gas fire or have an electric one instead?
Clearly gas is much cheaper to run but are you really using it to heat the room or is it more asthetics?0 -
It's been condemned on safety grounds0

What makes you think that electric heating is ever going to be cheaper than gas? Most of our non-renewable power is generated in gas-fired power stations anyway. No free lunch, and no free laptop

We have GCH with a radiator in the lounge. I had the focal point fire taken out and have not regretted it.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0
