We are OAP and use as little as we can. We came off fix in April to experience a few increases. We were paying 395 per yr now EST 830 annual but of course will go up October. Cannot work out what the 30% difference for fixed plans. There is an ovo 1yr and 2yr fix saying EST £996 annual. Any help.Thank you

Hi there anyone coming off a fix in April will feel a big hit as you have not experienced the October 2021 price cap rise so you get both of them together. What you did benefit from was a cheaper 2021 winter than most 👍
As much as yearly pound and pence figures are great the only thing that really matters is how many kWh you use of energy in a year and the price per kWh. If you have those to hand and the deal being offered there are helpful people here that can calculate potential options.
What they can't tell you us for certain as the energy market is a gamble right now and I suggest any opinions are though about with today's announcement of energy help from the government1 -
Just going from the DD the fixed tariff is 20% more expensive.
But as @Mstty wrote DD is only a quarter of the information as DD is often very misleading.
Also nobody anybody who would know exactly what is going to happen will be playing at the stock exchange and not in this forum.0
