Afternoon all. At 6am it was bright and sunny here but that didn't last long before the showers started. Now it's just dull and breezy, a bit on the chilly side too. I'm hoping next month brings some better, more settled weather 'cos I'm fed up of our typical British changeable days.
I went to the post box yesterday to send a birthday card to a cousin and then popped into the Co-op for milk and potatoes. As usual, I looked at the ys section but there was nothing of interest to me so it was an inexpensive shop. I managed to dodge the raindrops too, so not all bad. We had salad with pilchards for dinner that was surprisingly filling and tasty.
Tonight we're having a pork, mushroom & onion concoction in a creamy sauce with mash & cabbage. I would have preferred pasta with it but DH's sad face told me that was a no-no, so mash & cabbage it is. Good job I'm not a fussy eater!
We have a fair few birds around here, but mostly wood pigeons and noisy magpies that we're so used to that we don't tend to take a lot of notice of them. This morning, however, the magpies were especially noisy and, when we looked out of the window, saw a neighbourhood cat had caught a bird. Two magpies were dive bombing the cat and berating it with noisy angry chatter. Eventually, the trapped bird - that must have been playing dead - escaped, minus quite a lot of feathers and no doubt shaken but seemingly unhurt. The strange thing was the caught bird wasn't another magpie, but a wood pigeon. Isn't nature strange and wonderful?Happy holiday, Gers. Have a safe journey.
The new job seems to be coming ever closer, Ruby. Bet you can't wait!
Lucky DD, TA - I hope her new-to-her WM does the job as it will be saving you some work too! And Happy Birthday to your baby boy. You’re right, where do those years go?
Communication between councils/housing associations and their contractors isn’t the best, is it, dp1? Drives me mad sometimes. Hope you get your hot water problem sorted asap.
Boo to the rotten night’s sleep, SunflOw3r, hope tonight will be better for you.
Right, coffee time coming up and then I'll be doing a bit of mending before the small pile becomes a big pile.Hugs where needed or wanted. Take care. X
Be kind to others and to yourself too.8
