Time to fix my energy bill? - British Gas Misleading customers?

OK lol, So i entered in my "actual" usage of 7500kwh Gas and 2000 Elec into cheap energy club set to me being on British Gas Standard Variable and it gives me = £1,378 for the year (see image 1). I then changed the tariff to the new BG Exclusive Jul 23v1, but kept my actual usage the same and it brought pack i will be paying £1,790 (see image 2).
So my questions / points are:
1) The New BG July 23 v1 Tariff quote of £1,706 a year (side note: they have removed this tariff now ,but argument sake) must be using my "actual usage" as the yearly figures from cheap energy club £1,790 and the British Gas quote of £1,706 are quite similar?
2) This would mean i am on approx an increase of 24% over the standard variable rate?
Am i correct in my points / assumptions?

1)I would agree. Strangely in most cases it seems I get not the same amounts when I calculate from the using the same numbers as the suppliers quote. They will be near, but not the same. No idea what they add or subtract here.
2)If you compare the two amounts the increase is 30% (29.89%) not 24%. Looks like you calculated with the higher amount, not the lower amount.1 -
The_Fat_Controller said:People, DO NOT get confused by the 11.2 multiplier in @frugalmacdugal 's post above.
That only applies if you are using the numbers directly from your meter.
Comparisons on the energy company websites have already done the calculation from volume to kWh for you.Agreed. There are also two other potential problems.- Some smart meters can also show your gas usage in kWh. If you are sending readings to your supplier, you must always send the volume figure (which will always be m3 for smart meters) because your supplier will automatically number crunch your reading into kWh.
- The 11.2 multiplier will only be correct if you have a metric (m3) meter. If you have an old Imperial meter (hundreds of cubic feet, ft3) you will need to multiply by a further 2.83.

1) Yes i am with you, never sure what they add on extra but i guess with all this you have to caveat it with the word "approx".
2) Yes you are right i did do that, although the £1,706 (lower amount) was actual what British gas were offering me yesterday via my account, so it would have been 24%, but they have got rid of it now and it currently "Exclusive Jul 23v2 for £1737.84 yearly" but yesterday was "Exclusive Jul 23v1 for £1706.44 yearly", so the new v2 amount would be 27% (26.113%) from the £1378 SV to the New.0
