At work, two weeks ago I accidentally left the handbrake off my car and it rolled back and has damaged the property (the garage!) that backs onto the carpark. The third party, their solicitors or insurance company may also write to you directly holding you responsible. Do not respond to it, but pass any such correspondence on to your insurance company straight away who will deal with it. You can of course let the third party know you've passed it on if you wish.
