Moving house on fixed rate

I signed a contract for a fixed rate with Scottish power just before the prices went up. I explicitly told them as they were trying very hard to get me to sign up, that I was going to be moving house. The man on the call told me I can take the tariff with me to the new house.
I called them today to get the address moved and they said I needed a new tariff which is not what I was told.
This could make a difference of a couple of £100 a month with the way energy prices are going.
Has anyone actually moved a tariff to a new address or was the first guy lying to get the sale?

As for a transcript of the call, through a complaint if necessary.

However check the terms and conditions of the contract to see what it says about moving home as well.

I suspect if you check your terms and conditions you'll find an explicit statement saying that you can't automatically transfer your existing tariff to a new property. This is pretty standard.

Whether the person you spoke with was deliberately lying or just didn't know what they were talking about is debatable.

As @Mstty says you want to try to see if you can get an record of your call, although I suspect it may not be.

All you're ultimately worse off by if is however much more you paid on the fixed tariff at your old address vs what you'd have paid on the standard variable rate. In reality you never had any way to somehow pre-book a cheaper rate for your new property.
