fixed price ending
Hi all
As the title suggests my Scottish Power fixed price deal ends next week.
I am wondering if all the energy companies charge the same rates wich im sure they do but do they all charge the same rip off rates for standing charges?
If the standard charge rates vary can we change suppliers?
These might seem simple questions but i cant find these answers easily
Best regards

The capped standing charges are virtually identical, although they vary regionally. The only significant variations are in the E7 rates. I'm only aware of EDF and Octopus accepting new customers on their SVT, and only if you phone them.1

Sorry but what are the E7 rates and what's a SVT?Gerry1 said:The capped standing charges are virtually identical, although they vary regionally. The only significant variations are in the E7 rates. I'm only aware of EDF and Octopus accepting new customers on their SVT, and only if you phone them.
Think i've found it E7 = Economy 7 and SVT = Standard variable tariffs?
Am i correct?

Fixed tariffs vary between suppliers. It's the standard variable tariffs that are all basically the same as they're determined by OFGEM's price cap.
Fixed tariffs are all more expensive today, but the guess/gamble is what will work out cheaper longer term once price cap increases are factored in. There is no simple answer/advice right now.1
