Vets bills

Hello, when settling a vet's £700+ bill is it the norm to only receive the debit card receipt or would you expect to receive an itemised receipt? Don't want to appear untrusting but would like to know what I've paid for. All information and quotation was verbal. TIA

i never get an itemised receipt but have normally been asked if I want one for insurance purposes. I've never had pet insurance so it was never an issue. But also I would normally be told "it's £59 for this and £189 for that" so if there was any discrepancies I could deal with them prior to paying. Must admit for the occasional huge I've normally just been relieved that the pet is ok that I haven't really focused on the itemisation.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe and Old Style Money Saving boards. I have always had an itemised invoice if it was more than just a consultation.
You are entitled to an itemised receipt so ask for one.

9.15 All invoices should be itemised showing the amounts relating to goods including individual relevant medicinal products and services provided by the practice. Fees for outside services and any charge for additional administration or other costs to the practice in arranging such services should also be shown separately.

Thanks Brie and Sheramber. Got a feeling I might have received one electronically for previous pet (same vet) so will wait and see. I might casually pose the question when we go for a follow-up check up. Lots of different opinions when asking around. Just don't want to seem too casual and like to understand the system and charges. Thanks again.0

Just ask for an itemised invoice. What's so difficult?1

I always ask for a total breakdown of my payment at the time of payment. It's never been an issue. That way I can see where exactly my £ has gone.
