I'm thinking the best solution is to get 1 month temporary insurance in my name, that way I can MOT & tax it and then drive it to the dealer that gives me the best offer.

From what I understand the DVLA will have already been notified of the death through the Tell Us Once service and the DVLA will automatically consider the executor as the registered keeper.

    Is this correct?
No it is not correct, the DVLA will have no idea who the executor is they just know the previous keeper has died.

That also depends on whether you chose that option in the 'Tell us Once' service. Personally I didn't as I knew I had to get the car sold without much delay, my Dad's insurer also gave a 30 day grace period before I had to either renew the insurance in my name or cancel.

there are companies offering short term (one hour - one month) insurance on cars now - maybe having this would be a possibility
