Morning all. Dull here and wet on the ground from overnight rain.
I'm going over to pick DGS up from pre school later this morning and then will stay to look after him as DSiL is going in to the office and DD is still away. Have made them cakes, biscuits and DH has made shepherd's pie for his dinner so that's them all sorted!
Playing for one of my Morris sides at a pub tonight so will have to check my route before I leave. Last week we were under a canopy but the rain still came in at the sides. Think this pub is more open so no shelter.
DH is going to pick up a cooked chicken as that makes an easy meal for later if I make a greek salad to go with it. Always a bit rushed on a Tuesday. Still low carbing so protein and veg should do the trick. Need to sort something for my lunch though. I'm loosely following the Blood Sugar Diet and the recipe book is really good.
Have a good day everyone.11 -
Morning all. Bit nippy today but I am manfully struggling on in short trousers and a t shirt top because I wore it yesterday and can't be bothered ot find something else today. Hopefully OHs friend will be coming today to do the attic hatch, if not, I'll go to town and get my hair cut and attempt to find a coral nail varnish. I don't usually wear nail varnish but I like to wear a coral one sometimes because it's a colour my mother always wore but finding the right one is a trial. Bought one a couple of weeks ago but it's too pink in daylight. I'll gve it to a friend who is never without nail varnish. I'm going to wales this weekend so I can see my sister and we can finally have Christmas so I'd better find something else for my cousin. I got her a calendar but obviously, it's nearly half way through the year now...TA, welcome back
Rosy, bon voyage!
Ruby, what a little so and so. It's all very well having problems and addictions but when other people get sucked into it, it's hard to maintain a compassionate attitude. Good luck tonight. Izzy, cool enough to light the fire again?
you go girl! Maddie, hope the appointment goes well. Take care today all. P.S, looks like the friend has turned up so no haircut today....Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi9 -
Morning from a sunny and quite warm Mehefinland ( it won't last!).
Scoobymare has an oohme again grrrr. Hopefully sorted tomorrow when Stevie2shoes is due. he is talking about having a knee replacement so might have to find a new farrier at some point soon.
Lovely neighbour gave me 2 courgettes and 2 different pumpkin plants. Going to try one of the pumpkins on the muckheap as apparently they are voracious feeders. Might end up like a Triffid !!
Another neighbour is moving to Cambridgeshire today (nearly 400 miles from here) Both elderly with medical conditions that is affecting mobility. Going to a very nice bungalow which will be ideal for them. Had to go to disconnect their washing machine yesterday as the removers won't do it!! 2 minute job. Its crazy how 'the not my job' attitude creeps in.
Have a date for nephew's funeral so that's something not to look forward to. Still in a bit of shock about the manner of his passing and the timeframe. We are not a particularly close family and I hadn't seen him since my own parents funerals 10+ years ago.It will be a strange day.
The Toxic Troll made such a fuss because we had DS' ex gf as a Facebook friend , asking us to remove her as it was upsetting him. Our retort was we will friend who we like and butt out. Did not go well!!! Solution : defriend DS and Toxic . Result.
Can't stand the girl but he is well under the thumb. Families!!!
Keep safe all. Hugs and spoons as always

Hi everyone,
I'm glad you had a lovely time TA. Ruby, It's so difficult isn't it. Mehefin, I hope the funeral goes ok. Rosy, have a lovely time. I hope the appointment is ok Maddie.
Esben is at nursery, Steve is at golf, Brian is at work so it's just me and Laura and she is working in the dining room. I'm going to wash the bedding today and have a general tidy, looking for the paw patrol figures Esben has lost on the way. I've got a telephone consult booked with the Dr this afternoon, I'm not happy about my stomach and think it needs investigating. I spoke to a doctor about it a couple of months ago but he was very dismissive so I have asked to speak to the head Dr who is a woman and I've had good consults with in the past. We'll see how it goes.
Laura is trying to swap hospitals because she hasn't had great care so far and lack of communication from both the hospital and the midwife team, it's not straightforward though because she has to get the midwife to refer her but they are very diifficult to get hold of.
Have a good day.11 -
Ruby is it worth changing your mum's locks, in case your nephew tries to move back in?
Coxy just check if it also says "or equivalent experience" in that JD - I'm supposed to have a degree for my role but don't 😉

A belated Afternoon All. It's a mix of sunshine and showers for us today and quite breezy, but feeling fairly mild.
Stick to your guns, Rosy - your mum definitely doesn’t need that hassle, and neither do you.
Welcome back, TA. Glad you enjoyed your break despite the weather not being too good.
Hope all goes well at the hospital for you, maddiemay.
Happy belated Christmas, -taff!
Shame about the family upset, mehefin. You can choose your friends etc …..
Hope all goes well with the head doc, snoozer, and also for Laura in her attempt to swap hospitals.
Bolognaise sauce (6 portions) and minestrone soup (3 portions) made yesterday. I also sliced up the weekend's joint of pork, a total of 6 meals for 2, so very good value. All shoe-horned into the freezer that is now full - again - so I'm seriously considering not doing an online shop next week. If I need anything like milk, which I probably will, then I'll buy it locally instead. That will leave me with some spare cash at the end of the month that can boost the winter squirrel fund.
I heard on today's news that Ofgem is saying the next price cap review could raise the average annual energy bill to £2800 pa. We're still on a price fix until the end of August but I'm expecting a big hike from Sept onwards, that I've budgeted for based on the current price cap SVR but I think I'll need to recalculate. If they are correct then we will definitely be in fuel poverty. Somehow, I don't think my squirrel fund will cover such a massive increase.
I managed to throw half a cup of hot tea over the kitchen floor yesterday, I think I must have caught the bottom of the cup on the corner of the oven - Clumsy Clara strikes again! Fortunately, this was before I mopped the floor.
Bedding changed today but, since the weather is forecast to be showery this week, it can wait till the weekend to be washed.
That's me done now apart from making tonight's dinner - easy peasy, egg & chips! Take care. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.8 -
He does not have a key so wont be able to let himself in, and I would see him on her ring doorbell and could be there in seconds, I only live four houses away xxFloss said:Ruby is it worth changing your mum's locks, in case your nephew tries to move back in?
