British Gas Homecare

For British Gas Homecare Two I was paying £33.44 pm, but the same cover to new customers is currently £15.42 pm. They did offer a reduction, but not down to £15.42. Was it not made illegal under insurance legislation to charge different prices to existing and new customers? BTW: Check how much you're paying if you're with British Gas!

The other thing to watch with BG is that they will happily sell you more than one policy and you end up with overlapping cover. This happened a few years back with my in laws. BG would ring and ask "do you want boiler cover?" & my FiL would say yes and set up a DD. A few months later they'd ring and ask "do you want plumping and heating cover?" and he'd take that out thinking that it was actually the renewal of the first thing or that it would cancel the first policy. As he was practically deaf and blind there wasn't anyway for him to check his bank statements and so when he died and I was helping MiL sort things I discovered BG were taking 4 different monthly DDs for slightly different policies, 3 of which they could never claim on. Fortunately they were very good about refunding about 3 years worth of premiums but it does show how they can take advantage.

there - 'in or at that place'
their - 'owned by them'
they're - 'they are'
it's bought not brought (i just bought my chicken a suit from that new shop for £6.34)
