Hello
My mum has had contact from a probate detective at People Finder, and we think it's legit? We are scratching our heads over the fees. We have absolutely no idea how much is in the estate, if anything at all. There would be solicitor fees, but if there's nothing in the estate, then obviously she doesn't want to be out of pocket.
They have agreed to fees of either to 20% of the net value of the estate, or to 15% of the gross value. What would be the best option? Any advice on this? Anyone dealt with People Finders?

They charge a percentage of the estate which is taken before the beneficiaries receive their share - potential beneficiaries shouldn't ever have to pay upfront.
They appear not to be a well known Heir Hunter company and I would wonder how legit. they are.
Have you any idea who has died?
