Morning all. Didn't post at the weekend. We were slothing it up in the house, playing computer games with each other,we went to the GC saturday where OH carried my compost and my flowers and herbs. Then we stopped at B&Q for him to get some some perspex. He's got this idea about mirrors and infinity mirroring he wants to attach to my greenhouse. I am patiently letting him play but not helping at all. Potted on various things yesterday and played some more Hearthstone. Also chatted with my sister about driving abroad, she is now up for this, she's been a few times too with my parents, so we are double checking what we need and should have etc. Road Trip!
Today I am not sure what the plan is, I'm still waiiting for my new contacts, there's a mountain of paperwork to sort, answer, file and destroy. well, OK, slight exagerration but it's a lot fo stuff I've been putting off. Gers, hope your hip improves before you go away...Take care today all....Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi8 -
Morning all. It's a bit brighter here today and I think the sun will be playing hide & seek again.
Keep resting and popping the pills, Gers - we want you to be fighting fit for your trip to Germany. And let's hope you have better luck this time with the new sofas.
Good luck with your dental check up, snoozer. Not my favourite place.
Sorry dp1, no helpful advice re snacks. The only thing that worked for me was not having them! Nowadays biscuits and chocolate are an occasional treat rather than the norm. Tbf, I had to cut them out as I was diagnosed with T2 diabetes but it still took an enormous amount of willpower. Three years on, I'm able to control the diabetes by watching what I eat rather than taking tablets and am almost 2 stones lighter. Maybe try having just one biscuit instead of 2 (or 3
) and then cutting out one snack, then two etc. Think of it as a bad habit that needs to be shown the door.
Nothing exciting happening here, just the usual Monday stuff. I'll be making a batch of bolognaise sauce, some for today and some for the freezer, and a minestrone type soup to use up some chicken stock. And the kitchen floor could do with a mop too. After that, who knows? I lead such an exciting life!
Enjoy your day, whatever you're doing or planning to do, and keep smiling. Take care. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.9 -
Hi everyone,Another who didn't post over the weekend, but I did think of you Gers, it's never easy these anniversaries so hugs to you and Suffolk Sue.Been weighing our luggage again but I think we'll take a suitcase instead of just hand luggage. DsisIL has just messaged & said they had no problems with check in/security at Manc airport this morning, their flight is leaving at the same time today as ours is on Wednesday. Extra shoes then
Dp1, sorry not much help but I am also doing low carb so have cut out sweet treats apart from some I make from a keto site. You don't miss them after the initial tricky withdrawal
& I have lost a stone now & gone down a dress size. Just wish I'd done it sooner before the hol as it does take me longer to lose now I'm older!Snoozer, that took me back 5 years- DGS used to love PawpatrolTea tonight is L.o curry for DS, and 2 different batch cooked meals for us. I've got a few gaps appearing in the freezers now. Having a delivery tomorrow so DS won't go hungry but I might cancel some milk, the farm has an app so it's easy enough.Right, must carry on, have a good day x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. DP1 - not Berlin this trip, I'm heading for the south of Germany to the family home of my now last aunt, my DM's SIL, who died last August. There's a family gathering before the house and land is sold off to developers. My favourite cousin and his brother are sad and pragmatic about the sale, it was their childhood home, for me it was my holiday and occasional longer-stay home. As for snacks...I'm with YorksLass, less is more. I cut out snacks ages ago as I didn't know when to stop. The other day I found myself searching for a snack before pulling myself up as it's only a habit and I wasn't hungry. Go cold turkey, it's the best way.I've been out into town as I had letters to post and one to hand in to the GP. My back didn't like me driving but a couple of ibuprofen took the edge off. Before I went out I did a quick white wash so that's now blowing in the breeze outside. Whilst I was in the garden I did a tour of it
to check out growth and offer some encouragement.Snoozer - I hope that Esben is better soon.Taff - a road trip sounds really exciting, fingers crossed it all works out for you and your sister. Here's a couple of photos of what I encountered on my way home, they are very placid and always know when to go back home, they certainly brought a smile to my face.

You're right, Gers, less is more and I find I now enjoy the occasional biscuit or piece of cake much more than I ever used to do.
Just a thought, dp1 - the biscuits with a cuppa probably are habit, but if you're eating between meals as well then maybe it's boredom rather than hunger? If so, try having a glass of water - it will fill you up, is good for you (hydration and all that) with no calories and is free from the tap. Or maybe try replacing the sweet stuff with an oatcake with a very small scrape of something like
peanut butter or a low fat cream cheese? Grissini (breadsticks) are another useful way of keeping the mouth occupied but obviously you'll need to avoid the dips!

Thanks ladies - I think cold turkey is the way to go - and if I stop buying them I'll stop eating them! I have been trying to drink more water too - I find it easier when it's warmer. It's just getting myself out of the habit...
Gers that's an amazing cow! Are you going anywhere near Nuremberg - they're having lovely weather there at the minute.
Going to wash up my tea things and sit outside with yesterday's paper for a little while - the sun is shining and it's warmer outside than inside!5
