Bias lighting / RGB lighting

Considering this for behind my PC monitor. Perhaps behind the living room TV or even both. May not be to everyones taste but from what I've seen of online videos I don't think it's bad at all.
My first concern is the heat though. TBH i've not really felt the rear of the TV when it's been on for a while but I imagine it doesn't stay stone cold.
So i'm basically reaching out to anyone who's done this / got this setup & can comment on that as to whether the strips start peeling off.
And just general advice. I think if I got the white only then I'd regret not having a colour option as I'd wonder whether I'd like it at times, likewise if I got a colour option with no white.
And any branding to go for, avoid etc?

Some will peel, but that can be overcome with some double sided tape without any problems.
Definitely go with RGB, pure white will not necessarily look good and may not suit your eyes. Not seen an RGB set that couldn't show white if required.
Unless you are already invested in Phillips hue, don't waste your money there. Govee are a good brand to start with and can be controlled via Alexa or Google if you have them.

I have some LED lights stuck on the back of my TV for bias lighting. Heat has never been an issue.

Ahh damn. I thought the thread was going to get no reply so I just went & bought something.Only time will tell if it's tat.I reached out to Govee but they said they didn't sell anything suitable in the UK.And from what i read the RGB and RGBIC or whatever it is do do white, but it's more yellowy/creamy, not white. RGB+W gives the offer of 'true' white alongside the colours.

The theory is that you want 6500k light being reflected off the back wall from bias lighting. Many LED strips are not that accurate in the first place and even the good ones like MediaLight do not factor in the fact that the wall behind the TV may not be pure white/neutral grey
How hot your TV/Monitor gets will depend on the technology of the screen and anything else in the box. Our LG OLED doesn't get hot and not had any problems getting the LED to stay stuck to it. We have used both a dimmable plain white and a smart strip... dont think either gave the perfect D65 output but at least with the smart solution our universal TV remote will turn them on/off with the TV etc.0 -
You will be OK with that. To be honest, anything is better than nothing. Not sure why Govee would say that, in what way would they not be suitable?JustAnotherSaver said:Ahh damn. If it was the white element you wanted, in future, I wouldn't bother. White doesn't look too good behind the screen.Drinking Rum before 10am makes you

Got it installed yesterday. I like that one as no mains connection required (it's USB connection). Is for a 55" TV so still works ok on my 58". Due to the 'goings-on' behind the TV, as in the rear TV design, I had to bring the strips in a bit from the edge anyway. Not too much, just enough.Anyway, Saturday is movie night so had the light on - white. Happy enough with it.Going to switch the legs around on the TV as I think turning them 180 will allow the TV to go closer to the back wall & perhaps have the lighting looking a bit better still.0

Just be careful if you do that ... the legs may have been designed based on the weight distribution in the TV; if you turn them round then the TV may fall. (If it falls back then at least it shouldn't fall too far before it hits the wall - but you don't really want it falling at all).

Thanks for the warning. However just to reassure you - https://www.panasonic.com/uk/support/discontinued-products/televisions/tx-58dx750b.html"Interchangeable Switch Design pedestal".I was having a look at it a bit more last night & I actually think once it's switched around it'll be no different once it's seated in, or if it is then the difference will be insignificant.Would love to have it on the wall actually. Only issue is the living room has been tanked & I don't want to drill in to the wall and break the tanking - so on the TV cabinet it stays.
