Barclaycard Don't Keep Promise

I took out a Barclaycard when recommended on this site as Barclaycard said they would give me £25 withing 28 days of my first purchase, they confirmed this in an email to me that I had qualified for the £25. However over 30 days have passed since my first purchase and Barclaycard haven't credited me with my £25, and more worryingly they now don't respond to my emails. Anyone know who I should report them to/threaten them with for not keeping to their advertised deal?

By way of advice, you may consider trying to quit the card. I had a similar thing last night with their 0% deal...Apparently I was a couple of days past the 60day limit from account opening, so they refused to give me anything less than 6.9%...I asked them outright whether there was anything more they could do. They said there wasn't.

So, I went away and applied for a new card (mint) and got that all sorted out, called Barclaycard again and said "I want to cancel". They asked why, I explained. The woman in the "cancellation department" or whatever it is, then offered me the transfer at 0%. I said "it's too late, you had your chance, you wouldn't take my money, I've gone with someone else". She then said "we'll not charge a BT fee if you stay with us". I basically told her that I wouldn't consider staying as they'd wasted my time and I'm not into time wasters...

Anyway, after all that, my point is that they seem a lot more willing to sort stuff out when you're actually trying to cancel - might be worth a go...

(although, to be totally fair, I have to say I got a £50 voucher deal with the card too and the voucher turned up pretty quickly/easily)

I got the card too, I telephoned barclays as it had not appeared on my statement, they have been simply overwhelmed by the take up and the credits should hit your next statement.

I am just about to have a go at Barclaycard myself, they promised me that if I spent £50 a month that I would get a rate of 6.9% on purchases.

I went as far as asking for it in writing.

Last month's statement showed the rate as being 18.9%, when I spoke to them about it they stated that it was an error and they would put it right this month, statement arrived this morning, and the rate has changed not to 6.9% but to 27.9%.

    What a shower Barclaycard are.........

Definately, ring to cancel and you'll be surprised how quickly they change their minds!

  • Got my £25 at last after compaing to them about 6 times by email. Now to cancel the card as I wouldn't deal with these people again.
