Can we claim rebook a holiday if our son has caught chickenpox before flight without insurance.

Good morning everyone,

We have bought a holiday through the loveholidays. We should flight in Saturday but our son has caught chickenpox 3 days before flight, therefore we wanted to rebook a holiday to cover the difference. An airline and a hotel agreed saying that there will not be any cancellation fee from there side, but the holiday provider says something different.
We kept in touch with them 4 times.
Once, they said we need to pay 542 to rebook,
The second one said, we are not able to do it and switched the chat off.
The third one said, that we will not receive any refund for cancellation
The last one acted like the second one.
Is there anything what might be done to receive any refund? Can they act in this way with us?

Thank you everyone for any advice.

Have you checked the terms of your booking? There will be a contract section that details cancellation and rebooking options. If the holiday was completely non-refundable, you may well be out of luck.

If the contract is with loveholidays, it does not matter what an airline or hotel say - your contract is with the travel company.

Illness which causes you to cancel is always an insurance claim and in the last week before departure, every tour operator would be charging 100% cancellation charges. Hence, anything less than that is a bargain to be snapped up.

Have you tried logging into “manage my booking”?  That will show you if you are entitled to any refund if you cancel . It’s unlikely that you will get much (if anything ) for cancelling at such short notice but worth checking .

Love Holidays and MSE both recommend taking out insurance to cover cancellation for illness - so if you do make another booking take out insurance straight away to avoid this situation in future.

If you haven't taken out travel insurance I'm afraid you are learning a lesson the hard and expensive way.
