Outfox the Market meter question

I have a dual rate meter with Outfox the Market. It's working out more expensive than a single rate meter. I've contacted them to ask if I can migrate onto a single rate and they said they'd have to install a smart meter.
1) Can they push a smart meter on me by denying me the option to change my tariff if I don't.
2) What are the real negatives with a smart meter? I don't like the idea of any company knowing even more about me than they already do.
Thank you!

Just wrap it in toil foil and peak at it every now and again. Remembering to wrap it up tightly again after👍
Joking aside I don't see an issue with a smart meter, getting one that works long term is another story.1 -

You can switch to EDF or Octopus, but only if you call them. They'll probably be happy to bill you at single rate on the SVT without a meter change.1

Thanks Gerry, I might have to do that. I'll check out their prices later.Gerry1 said:You can switch to EDF or Octopus, but only if you call them. They'll probably be happy to bill you at single rate on the SVT without a meter change.1 -
I've had a look on the comparison sites for all suppliers - it seems my bill is £30 per month cheaper than the cheapest out there. I might just stick with OTM and see what happens in the next few months. Thanks for your help though.Gerry1 said:You can switch to EDF or Octopus, but only if you call them.
