I gave a company a quote for fencing a garden which they excepted by email. The supplier we cannot get hold of anymore and have tried. So we cannot keep the quotes price and have let them know to which we said we would get another quote from another company we use but timber has gone up so much over the time and we sent the new quote over to which they say they won’t except and are going to take legal proceedings against us.
We are worried as we would end up doing the work at a very high loss if we proceed
any help please

I assume you mean you cannot get hold of the supplier.. how long ago did they price up the materials? I work in the merchant trade and our quotes used to be valid for 30 days... now it's 7. Prices are changing on an almost daily basis but the increases in the last twelve months for fencing averages about 20% over the past year so a recent quote shouldn't be that much different in cost. If other suppliers are much more expensive it may explain why your orignal supplier isn't trading if they were undercharging.0

Yes I can’t get hold of the supplier and I thought the same that they under changing people . The Quite was done is 10/2021 and first we couldn’t do due to weather so we didn’t get timber and we explained to company that we can’t proceed with original quote which I think we was quoted wrong for timber.so said we would get another quote which they said ok can we get a new quote and then they can see if they wish to proceed but with new quote0

I can't see that they have any grounds. Tell them to stick their lawyers up their !!!!!!. They're going nowhere with their entirely vexatious claim. Let them rot from on high.

Can I suggest you add a sentence to future quotes that say the quote is only valid for a month or whatever time period you think suitable. The company cannot hold you to your quote done over six months ago, ignore them.2
