    Hi not quite the same but when my husband died my 2 daughters were 6 and 8 and entitled to a very small monthly lgps payment (no offer of lump sum) until 19 unless going to Uni.   A temporary NI number was set up for both of them but took a few months and they were taxed until this was done the payments 12 years on are only £8 per week (just finishing) but I don’t know if things have changed.
