Arrangements for getting paid outside of PAYE

I have recently got a first time opportunity to be paid directly for a service that I provide. I was wondering what would be the best way to log these earnings with the HMRC?
I recently made my company dormant because it was not earning anything from the time it was incorporated. However, I've just had a slight breakthrough and wondered if I should just take earnings into business account and then contact an accountant at the end of the year? Would it mean reopening my company on HMRC?

Subject to who your "client" is then in most circumstances they are the ones that will be doing the IR35 determination and deciding if you are able to operate on an outside basis via your company. If they decide you are inside IR35 then they will almost certainly require you to operate via an umbrella or PAYE with the agency etc.
If the company has determined you are outside or for some reason are outside the scope (eg they aren't domiciled in the UK) then its back to you to determine.
You'd need to inform the relevant authorities that your company is trading again... up to you if you use an accountant or not. Normally operating via your company you would still be in PAYE though as most contractors pay themselves a salary below the NI threshold.0 -
You could start trading as a sole trader and get clients to pay you directly. Tell HMRC that you are self employed and of any trading name that you use.1
