Agent refuses to give property owner details to tenant

In the third line of his first post the OP says "my contract states the agent is my landlord", why does everyone keep asking?0

Because the OP hasn't been particularly clear about it. That sentence says "my property agent states...my contract states the agent is my landlord" so not sure whether that's the agent telling them that, or whether the OP had verified it themselves. It look like you landlord did a rent to rent deal with the house owner so the agent is your landlord. They do not need to give you the head landlord details as he is nothing to do with you. He will have agreed a level of rent that he is happy with, this is normally below market rent and the agents pays him this. The agent will then rent at market level and the difference is their margin. The home owner will have no say in how much the agency rents the house so trying to negotiate with him will do you no good as he isnt your Landlord. A landlord and property owner does not have to be the same person or entity.crunch99 said:I have read that i am entitled to the name and address of my landlord. Does any one have any ideas on how i can obtain the flat owners details so i can contact them?
How do i find out that the increase is due to the correct property value in my area? the agent said they are upping everyone's rent so how do i find out if the rent increase is over charged?
