Apcoa rail car park - paid too late on app

A few days back I parked at an APCOA station, forgot to pay on the app - I eventually remembered and paid in the hope that no-one had checked yet, but I returned much later on to find that there was a 'penalty notice' stuck on my car.
I did have a look through the 'Newbie' threads, but couldn't find quite what would marry up in the case of my having actually paid (albeit too late) from the app.
Any advice appreciated - many thanks.

A formal 'penalty' charge notice expires after 6 months, so you need to employ strategies to drag this out beyond that date. Start the process by appealing to APCOA using the standard, blue text initial appeal template from the NEWBIES FAQ Announcement, first post.Sometimes APCOA will cave in at this point, especially with general 'parking (not 'penalty') charge notices', but as they are relatively new to issuing 'penalties', they might not roll over so easily. If so, you must work on dragging this out by leaving any responses to them near to their deadlines, asking for clarifications by second class post - playing postal ping-pong!Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

None of the facts matter. Just appeal as keeper, copying any other APCOA railway first appeal. There is one here from yesterday that is at POPLA stage (no idea of username - just scroll through the recent thread headings). Copy what they did.
