Agoda Requesting Images of ID and Credit Card

Hi, after making a hotel room booking through Agoda I was contacted by their fraud department stating that to avoid having my confirmed booking cancelled they required a digital copy of my ID document and the card used. If they did not receive this by the date the booking was due to be paid it would be cancelled. I asked why and they said it was because fraudulent bookings had been made in the area we booked using the same source of card we used so therefore they needed confirmation. I am not satisfied with that explanation and have never been asked for this before with any other company. Surely to supply these details in this way goes against all advice given by all the financial institutions?
Any advice, thanks in advance

Not a chance I would send them that. You could be sending anyones information so doesn't stop fraudulent bookings.1

1) Contact your card company
2) Check your computer for malware
3) Don't tell them Pike2
