Wallpapering advice

I’m going to wallpaper my hall which has got “boxes” coming down from the ceiling. Which order should I paper them, ie sides then bottom or bottom then sides. The wallpaper doesn’t have a pattern match.

I'd make life easy and just paint the boxed section to match the ceiling, then paper round it. But then I have spent the last few decades getting rid of just about all the wallpaper in our house.

I wouldn't do bottom and sides, why? Just wrap the paper around the whole box and trim.1

Hadn’t thought of that 🙈. Should I paper the walls first and the the boxed in section afterwards ?0 -
I think I'd paper the boxed in section first and overlap the paper slightly onto the wall, where the paper that goes on the wall will cover the overlapping bits. And I'd consider tearing those overlapping bits so they don't have a harsh edge that might be visible through the paper going on the wall - but unlikely to be a problem given how it's presumably quite high up.0

Personally I'd fill what appear to be quite shallow imperfections then sand and paint. Don't overfill so there will be very little sanding. Use a decent filling knife and sandpaper on a hand sander or sanding block. If you are going to paper I'd do the ceiling box first then the walls.
