    Thank you all for your comments/suggestions. Indeed I will not bother, it is not worth the effort and the money involved is not so high that I want to go through the motions...
    But it helped clear a few points: make sure to go to a dentiste conventionné (mine was) and insist for the EHIC to be "used" (although the dentist said it was not required and I do not know how this would be done/recorded?). And try to claim in France, but this might prove difficult when one is on the move and (in the case of many tourists) does not speak/read very well French.
