  • I ordered something from John Lewis once (disclaimer: Work for part of the JL Partnership) and had it arrive on a SUNDAY.

    Now that's bloody service.

I ordered a £17.50 item, after a mix up with addresses it ended up back with them and was out of stock so I couldn't get it replaced.

I wasn't the least bit bothered and without saying a word the lady on the phone gave me £15 back to my credit card for the trouble :j
  • Just moved house and quite a few deliveries from John lewis.......the service is always fantastic, quick and received in full, especially when you consider it's free delivery!!

    Full marks from me!!

I wish I could agree with those above. While John Lewis's own customer service is great, their delivery company - Delivery 2 Home - has been appalling. They don't cover Northern Ireland and so they deliver the goods to a central NI depot and subcontract the deliveries here to a third party from there.

Deliver 2 Home has been telling me since last Thursday that my new television is "due to be shipped to NI tonight". They tell John Lewis staff one thing and me another, but none of what they say is reliable and the next day you get the same story(or stories) again.

I don't want to cancel the order as I got a good deal and it's not John Lewis's fault, but I will be making clear to them that they need to sort out this problem as it's making them look bad.

Our old television died a week ago. We wanted to make sure we got a good deal as well as a television suited to our needs. We knew we were restricted for space, but could get a larger screen than our old one as that had quite large speakers on the side, and of course was very deep.

We did lots of research on line, prices and reviews and visited local branches of stores to see the actual product.

The man in Comet was very helpful and said we could go up 3 screen sizes (and prices) from our old one, and that if we didn't get the largest we would regret it.

Admittedly they did look better, but we left to give it some more thought.
A couple of days later we went to JL, where the man said we should stick to our original plan of one size up, as our room size was not appropriate for a larger screen.

Again we left as we were still not sure. We then checked prices when we decided to go with our first choice, and found that the JL price was the same as Comet and Curry's, but that the 5 year warranty was included.

They didn't actually have any in any store within 50 miles, and we didn't want to take time off for delivery from on line ordering, so ordered it in store on Sunday and collected it this afternoon, in time to set it up for the football match. So glad we didn't get a bigger size, it would not have looked right.

So thanks to JL for giving good advice and not trying to sell the most expensive, thanks for the speedy relocation of the set by 200 miles ready for us to collect, and thanks for the competitive price.

    :T Absolutely bloomin' brilliant!:j

Ordered item on the 8/4 received an email and tracking number on 10/4. Item delivered on the 11/4.
Didn't like it so rang customer services on 12/4 and arranged collection of item (today as it happens, 1-4pm). Also went online to order a different item.

This morning at 9.30 the first item was collected (albeit 3.5hours early ) and ten minutes later the second item arrived  .

Faultless service, pity more ain't like it.
