Royal Mail : Bulk Certificate of Posting Form

I brought in a handful of parcels to my local Post Office today (6 to be exact) and asked for them to be posted off second class.

I had added 3 first-class stamps, so all that was needed was the additional 50p

Every previous time, staff have simply entered the postcode etc, then printed off one of those sticky labels to the value of 50p. I get a receipt and proof of posting.

This time, one chap decided to add a 50p stamp only ... that's fine by me I thought, then asked for proof of posting.

He gave me my receipt, but no proof of posting. By this time he had dumped the parcels in the collecting bag. When I asked for it, his reply was you never asked .. lucky his colleague had heard me and said I had asked for it.

Obviously annoyed now at the extra work, despite the PO being empty he had 'an attitude problem'

He suggested in future, if I am posting off so many items (is 6 really so many) i should complete a 'bulk certificate of posting' form, which would then become my receipt for future transactions. I added, that the normal proof of posting gives a code, which although not a tracking code, can be used to see if an item has been delivered.

A couple of times in the past buyers have suggested an item hasn't arrived yet .. I check the code and see it has been delivered.. I hear no more on the matter.

It seems the bulk posting form wouldn't offer this

Does anybody here use it ?

I would carry on as you are and ignore him. He's trying to make things easier from himself, not for you. I've seen people post 15 or so items before - one at a time. Yes it creates a bit of a queue, but can't please everyone!

I agree with IftiBashir. Many times I've been in a PO queue waiting for someone with what seems like six million parcels to process each and every one. If others have to wait, then so be it. Better to wait than to leave without the correct paperwork in case parcels go missing.

Some PO workers (not all because most of them are very helpful) just think they are better than everyone else, when in reality they are employed to suit the customers they serve, not the other way around!  Rude, they are.

Good to hear that you will be continuing on as before   :)
