Is stealing adblue from cars "a thing"?

We have a Berlingo with a non-locking filler flap which covers the [locking] diesel cap and the adblue cap. On filling it with diesel on Saturday I noticed that the adblue cap is gone and someone has placed a pebble under the flap! Can't be sure if any adblue was taken as there's no gauge like for fuel, but I've had no warning about adblue being low after 300 miles of driving so I guess not?
I assume this is just some idiot playing a prank, that's going to cost me ~£24 for what looks like a fancy bottle top.
