'£0.00 payment taken ' SMS alerts

Could anyone explain why I have recently started receiving SMS alerts from my Sainsbury's credit card stating 'a payment of £0.00 has been taken from your card if this was not you please phone us.' This has never happened before. Thanks

I recognise all payments back to January, not checked earlier yet, which is why I've posted here . I rang fraud their reply was my card has been compromised and they will issue a new one. I have the new card and received 3 SMS £00.0 ,..with new card number. Fraud say it not showing on my statement so not a problem. I personally am not convinced!0

I had a Sainsbury's credit card until a month ago (closed it) but never received messages like those you've mentioned above.0

A lot of fraud transactions never make it onto statements.
They get stopped by security systems.
Still means card has to be stopped & replaced, as card details have been compromised.Life in the slow lane1 -
Thank you! This is exactly what I thought but not being a fraud expert was unsure. You have explained perfectly. Looks as though I will be spending all morning on phone to Sainsbury's fraud !!!!!1

Hopefully I have it sorted. Now awaiting third card, so far no more £0.00 SMS. THANKS1

Don't be surprised if you do get some more £0.00 SMS alerts though, if the retailers that are registering your card are also automatically updated as to the new number by Mastercard/VISA.
I had this issue with NowTV when trying to stop card use on the account.
Check with your card issuer if this auto-update to merchants is a possibility, and request that it be switched OFF, if active.0 -
