Just returned from the surgery. Never seen it so jam packed! The nurse had a real struggle getting blood, she squeezed and slapped and prodded for ages.It took forever to fill 4 vials. By then the blood was finally flowing, and we couldnt stop it!. She then gave me the B12 jab in same arm,and was quite rough. To cap the not so lovely visit she tried repeatedly to take my blood pressure, but is the only nurse I've ever had who put half of the BP sleeve below the elbow and the other half above. It was also a sleeve with a metal bar you slide the material through. She kept doing it so tight the metal rod was digging in my arn, quite painful. And she kept on tightening it,agony. In the end she was rather displeased as my BP was 150/84. What did she expect after torturing me?So now I have to take BP readings at home for a fortnight.. I struggled to a little shopping at the store near the bus stop, then tromped to the bus stop and actually got a bus in 5 minutes! wow.Was not so happy when I read the bus timetable nailed to the bus stop. We had 6 buses an hour on my route, then last year they cut in to 5,now I see it is only 3 buses an hour.Managed the travel quite well, but already an hour later I can feel the muscles protesting in my thighs, the bottom my back, and my knee. So glad someone is taking me for my scan on Friday.Supper is ready, just needs reheating,so I am going to just collapse for a few hours. had intended to take down all decorations. Have done most but one wall and the tree will be done tomorrow, and thats Xmas done for another year.3

How is everyone today? First day back at work…..shattered now and have used up all my spoons for the day. Hubby does tea so I’ve asked for chicken nuggets when he gets in. What I really fancy is a great big pile of buttery mashed potato but I don’t want to sleep in the bathroom 😳😳😳
quick question - how many of you use online grocery shopping and how “good” is it? I used it for a while years ago and was a bit disappointed with it….⭐️⭐️⭐️🥇🥇🥇 2024 decluttering

''buttery mashed potatoes''...........(sigh)...........I remember the days pre diabetes when I would do the old Green Day on the Slimming World regime. I could eat huge amounts of mashand still lose 2 or 3lbs a week. Never was one for Red Day,not really a meat eater, and never felt full. on red. That is a downside on the Low Carb regimes too. I dont drool over huge piles of sausage and bacon and the like. From Monday I should make a start on diet, but have no confidence or enthusiasm for it,and mindset is all. If the mind isnt set on the plan you get nowhere. For 18 months I just reduced carbs a little, cut out fried food, and despite the thyroid fighting me all the way,I lost a pound a month,22 lbs in all,and didnt suffer pressure or anxiety, but metformin has blown that slow but steady progress out of the water, and all the mental stress of the last year did nothing for getting in the right mindset.Gotta go,I see asd@ van has just pulled in,I'm off to unpack the stuff!

OK,Mr Dusty has just gone to town to get his coupons,Of course just when the TV is free for once,I have loads to do. Hope to come back on here in the afternoon. For now I have to unpack all the groceries, hoover, make the dinner (chicken curry pasties, with ready made pastry, and a frozen chicken curry). Slowly pulling myself together from yesterday, but my shoulders and legs are killing me,so continually sitting down for breaks. And you should see the bruise on my elbow where the DN poked and poked for a vein yesterday. At least the heat has gone down a bit,but the bruise is nearly 2 inches across, looks awful.Right off to the kichen where all the stuff if still sitting on the benches, have to move them all to cook. After dinner I must dismantle the last Xmas decorations, was in too much pain last night, pack everything away for another year.A minor task, clean the stair paintwork, very dirty looking, and dusty.Been looking at it since Xmas Daywhenever going up the stairs, and never getting round to it.toodle pip!5

Dusty - too bad you can't take a picture of the bruise and use it to file a complaint. If she did that to you, she might do it to others as well. Once a friend of my brother's who had muscular dystrophy was in our local hospital. The nurse yelled at him for wetting his bed. I called the hospital and told them I was the president of the MDPPC (Muscular Dystrophy Patient Protective Committee) and talked to the head of nursing. The nurse was reassigned to a ward where she no longer would deal with patients who couldn't control some things. Even talked to some of the nurses about taking care of MD patients (my brother had it too). Never did tell them I had made up the committee on the spot and was the only member. But sometimes you just have to do something.5

Trouble finding a vein is nothing new for me.I was in hospital for a hysterectomy back in 2016,and a series of nurses failed to find a vein at the elbows, wrists, back of hands - nothing. In the end they had to fetch a doctor,a very grumpy woman, and she too had difficulties but found one in the end, in back of the hand. They sensibly left the place with a permanent thingy in it to use while in hospital. I had had to have a infusion of red blood cells packed in mebefore going into hospitalbecause I was so anaemic they had to build me up before I could have the op.And I had several blood transfusions after the op.And wow,the bruises from all the proddings to find a vein back then, spectacular. . So I wasnt really surprised last week at the bruising. But IMO she should have done the BP first, then probably done the bloods and injection in separate arms,it just all seemed a bit much for one poor arm!
