Decent priced hotel in Liverpool

Hi me and my 2 friends are going away to Liverpool for the weekend for my 50th we are travelling from Glasgow can anyone help with suggestions for hotel not to expensive and is it cheaper by bus or train thanks

We love Liverpool and if we fancy a cheap one night stay over in Liverpool we stay at Travelodge Central Exchange. I’m not sure if you’d need 2 rooms though. (I’ve only ever stayed there on a Sunday or Thursday night.)

Last October, I stayed at Heywood House Hotel which wasn’t too badly priced for our one night Thursday stay (and was nicer than the Travelodge but dearer).

It's a few years ago now, but we've stayed in the Travelodge Central on Old Haymarket (not the same as the one Mardrew mentions), As the name suggests it's very central, close to Queens Square Bus station and Liverpool Lime Street railway station and in walking distance of most of the main attractions.  It also has some twin bed rooms, which not all hotels appear to do these days.

The only drawback we fouind was that it doesn't have air conditioning and the last time the weather was very hot - reception were providing free jugs of iced water.

It's a great city, compact and with loads of interesting things to see and do - I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
