Going from 2 cars to one - advice needed which to keep?

We no longer need two cars and can’t decided which one to sell. We want to keep the one that will last the longest, any thoughts on which engine will have the greater longevity?

2009 2.2 d4d Toyota Corolla Verso
2010 1.33 vvti Toyota Yaris

Both have a FSH. The Yaris is the engine that is an oil burner (1L per 1000 miles), so I keep a very close eye on it. The cost of running both is essentially the same.

We cant decide what to do. Both cars are probably worth in or around the £1500 mark.

Keeping the Verso will be the more flexible option as it is a bigger car.

I would second that.  Alternatively the one that is running better if the bigger car won't really make a difference.

Yaris has engine problem (1l for 100 miles is not normal) + yaris is smaller.

Its 1L of oil for 1000 miles not 100.

Its a world wide issue for that particular engine. No meaningful recall ever took place.

    Made mistake typing zeroes.
Still 1L of oil per 1000 miles is a fault ;)

Meanwhile the D4D is known for head gasket failure, and it's an engine-out job.............

I wouldn't like to have to choose.
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

(except air quality and Medical Science ;))

Or sell both and buy one but newer?

Do you need the space or do lots of long journeys? Keep the Corolla.
    Otherwise, keep the Yaris.

You can even try it for a while; put the Corolla keys away and see if you can manage a week or 2 with only the Yaris.

Best suggestion yet. Going to trying this.
