P&O Ferry or Le Shuttle? - Tesco Clubcard vouchers

In the past I have used Tesco clubcard vouchers to purchase my free P&O ferry to France. However this year I am in a quandry. With the current situation with P&O Ferries, would it be wiser to use my clubcard vouchers for Le Shuttle? We are looking at going to France mid-July so there is possibly time yet to wait and see. We prefer to sail. What would happen, or what has been happening, when P&O ferries cannot sail? What have the passengers been offered/done? What rights would we have if we use our Clubcard vouchers? Thank you.

We all have to make out own judgements but I would not even be considering anything P&O Ferries for the rest of this year. And that's just based on their operational reliability without factoring the moral arguments of whether I'd want to spend money with them.
You'd need to look into the Tesco voucher T&Cs... but I would guess that if you made the booking and therefore the vouchers were "spent" you may be at the mercy of P&O. If you had the vouchers and hadn't managed to book anything and they were nearing expiry, Tesco may be willing to refund them back to clubcard points, but I'm speculating as I haven't read the T&Cs1 -
At the start of their crisis, P & O were paying DFDS to carry their passengers at no extra charge but at busy weekends, DFDS said they could not accept any more passengers as they were fully booked and that is even more likely by mid-July. I suspect that many people will have taken a moral stance and booked with DFDS or Irish Ferries who now have three ships on the route, I would be more concerned with the safety aspect, to be honest, one ship failed 3 times to be certified and had, I think 47 issues, more than any vessel checked in the last 10 years.
Although I too much prefer a ferry to the train, if P & O is the only option, I would take the train1 -
I'd take the train because the last time I went on a ferry it was horrendous both ways. I've never before travelled on such a vomit filled vessel, it was absolutely shocking. It wasn't even particularly rough either. I don't know how people can actually bear to set foot on one of those things.
Train is a lot better, fresher and cleaner. If I want to go on the sea (I'm fortunate not to suffer from travel-sickness but my whole family does) I'll wait until I reach my destination. I'd love to travel by ferry, but only if nobody else did.
(Also, ferries might be a bit dodgy!)Please note - taken from the Forum Rules and amended for my own personal use (with thanks) : It is up to you to investigate, check, double-check and check yet again before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my posts.
