First time cruiser advice

Hi all, where would you recommend for a no fly cruise? From Southampton would-be good. 2 Adults, nothing too formal.  Thanks

Well your in luck this year. As far as I can see 3-4 cruise lines are sailing from Southampton this year. My wife is on the MSC Virtousa as we speak doing the Fjords . Royal Caribbean and NCL are also going from there.
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

If you like a drink or two - have a look at the alcohol package deals - some cruise lines are much more attractive than others with their offers.
Are you aware that prescribed gratuities, charged by the day, are compulsory by default unless you opt out when joining the ship ?
We prefer to give direct to the staff on leaving.
Cruise Critic is the website to look for specifics on individual lines and ports of call etc.
The punters that frequent it will answer your queries.

I think a couple of Virgin ones are sailing from Portsmouth this year.

The Virgin Voyages cruises from Portsmouth have already been and gone, the ship has moved onto Barcelona.

Yep Resiliant Lady will be sailing out of Athens and then moving down to Austrailia.

There are no plans to sail out of Portsmouth again soon.

However I have been on both Scarlet and Valiant Lady and had a great time so would reccomend Virign to anyone who likes good food, a modern ship and a relaxed atmophere.

For first time cruisers I think which company you go with is as important (more?) as the destinations.

Much depends on your age range, whether you want lots of activities, or prefer a quieter experience. Also whether you fancy a smaller, more intimate, ship, or a huge one with lots of people. Adults only or lots of children? Budget also plays a part.

As mentioned, if you like a drink or 6, take a look at some of the all inclusive offerings or optional add on drinks packages.

    Give us some clues😉
