my daughter bought a second hand car recently ( 2 weeks ago ) a 2010 Citroen c3   from a small local dealer on finance

The car has developed a fault the power steering warning light has come on, but it also seems to be loosing coolant no visible leak she is waiting to be recovered back to the garage.
It came with a 3 month warranty but the dealers says this only covers her to £250

What are her options  ?

Thank you

Do you know it will cost more than £250, sounds like it could be a minor fault.

I assume its some sort of insurance based warranty then with a limit of £250.
How much coolant are we talking as could be head gasket, have you checked the radiator cap to see if its coolant/oil?

I have just bought a car from a distant seller.  I wanted a very specific vehicle (wheelchair ramp, minimum 5 seats, automatic) and this one ticked all the boxes.  It’s got a fault with the power steering pump.  I’ve been open with the dealer and said I’d like them to repair it, with invoice proof, and, if I’m not happy, then I’ll reject.  I have rejected a vehicle in the past, but that was a generic one, easy to source a different one vehicle.  This one is different and I could be waiting months for another suitable one (which means I can’t use my powerchair).  I’d rather get it repaired and then see.

The short aftermarket warranties aren't there for the benefit of the consumer.  They exist to distract the consumer from the rights they have against the dealer who sold the car.

The dealer is liable if they sell a car that doesn't work.  But the customer gets distracted going back and forth trying to claim against a warranty that is designed not to pay out on anything, and the dealer gets to keep the money, and claim it's none of their business.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

Speak with the dealer, not the warranty company. You can also speak with the finance company as they are jointly liable.
