Strange package?

Hello!
Bit of a weird one today I received a small package that was tracked and signed for I wasn't actually waiting for anything that I could remember but it had the correct address on so I took it.

The parcel doesn't have any name on it just the address and upon opening it I found it was just filled with cut up pieces of cardboard.

It does have a return address but I've googled it and it's just a residence in Portsmouth.

Anybody have any idea what's going on with it?

TIA!

    Did you sign for it?
Not sure but I presume that the sender will be able to see your signature and with other info I guess could cause a fraud of some sorts...maybe worth while contacting Royal Mail?

    Yes I signed for it.
It's not the clearest signature in the world so hopefully not a lot to gain from it definitely worth giving Royal Mail a call thanks!

I have been getting these for the past few weeks!
I have collected 8 of them so far!
Mine are not signed for, just tracked - small packages. Sometimes its a piece of cardboard, sometimes its a couple of post it notes.
6 sent via RM Tracked 48.
    2 sent via Evri.
    No return address etc.
I've stopped opening them up - just leave it sealed as you can feel its rubbish inside, and throw it in a drawer!

I've been collecting them up as evidence should anything come of it, but have no idea what is going on!

I guess the only other thing it could be is someone trying to build up a good sales history on ebay?

Is it childish to say that I'd be tempted to wrap it back up and send it to the address in Portsmouth? Seems a bit of a cruel trick someone is playing to me. I'd just have to do the same to them. Why on earth would they have their address on the parcel? If you send by RM you can decide to either have sender's address on or not so they are obviously not bothered about you seeing where it came from. Some strange people around. Wonder how much it's costing them to send these little parcels?

Depends if that's their actual return address though, or whether they've chosen another random address and the recipient there is just as innocent.

I can't remember which websites but there are (free and legal) ways of finding whether a company is registered at an address, which would be my advice before returning the parcel to someone who may or may not be the sender.

I checked out the return address on my items - its just some warehouse unit somewhere. I can't seem to find any company name etc linked to it.....
