Getting new gas supply hooked up - how to choose supplier

Hi Experts
I am moving into a house that currently has no gas supply (it has been capped). I've been told that when I find my new gas supplier, they will install a meter and uncap the gas supply. The issue is, how do a find a new supplier. I can't go on a comparison website as there is no old supplier to compare it with. Would appreciate any help in choosing a supplier.
Thanks

Octopus and EDF will accept you on the default capped tariff as a new customer, but you have to phone them. However, you may have to get someone else to liven up the supply and fit a meter, no doubt others will advise. You can find your gas transporter here.1

When you move into a new house you are automatically on a deemed tariff with the last supplier. for electricity.
Take a meter reading (incl. photo) and give the supplier your meter reading. Don't let them tell you you have to go onto a fixed tariff, you are already their customer and the deemed tariff is identical to the SVT.
Check with them if they will reconnect your house to gas and what they are charging.
Only after 21 days you will be able to move to a new supplier. As @gerry1 said currently only EDF and Octopus are known for accepting new customers on SVT.
Here is some more information on reconnecting the gas supply.
